Barry Boobis

I am the "artist in residence" at the Bluenote and the Village Gate in New York City. My grandfather wrote "The Hatikvahi" -- the national anthem of Israel. My uncle is a symphony conductor and my father is a jazz piano player. Music is my heritage and it is my destiny to "paint" music. I do the original painting and I make a lithograph of the painting. Each lithograph is then hand colored and hand signed. I work in multimedia: acrylic, oil, pastel, chalk and colored pencil. Each work is one of a kind. Many of the musicians depicted have sat for me over the years. Some paintings have been painted from life, some from imagination and some from other sources. Enjoy! My work is a celebration.
